EPS4 (Electronic Prescription Service)

We are now using an electronic prescription service.

It is up to the patient to ensure the correct pharmacy has been nominated. Please ensure that you state when ordering a prescription your preferred nominated pharmacy. If no pharmacy is nominated your prescription will go directly via our clinical system to the pharmacy.

This will mean that you will need to collect a token from the surgery and go along to any pharmacy to collect your medication.

During COVID-19 tokens will NOT be issued to avoid coming into the surgery but you will need to present at the pharmacy with your NHS number to collect your medication(s).

A GP will still need to sign the prescription, this is done electronically. All actions are audited so it is safer and there is less risk of losing a prescription.

You will still need to allow 48 working hours for the surgery to prepare your prescription. However, this means you will be able to collect from any pharmacy that has EPS in the country.

Please be aware that pharmacies may require up to 7 days from receipt of the EPS to the medication being ready to collect.
